With a Master’s degree in Gestalt therapy and personal experience as a mother of six, and four step children, Lyn naturally gravitated toward family therapy. Having faced family trauma, including the loss of a child, she deeply understands the challenges families encounter. She believes that unresolved trauma and addiction can trap families in cyclical patterns and that strong support can be transformative during crises, allowing individuals to navigate difficulties more effectively.
Lyn’s early experience as a psychiatric nurse reinforced the importance of having emotional and psychological support during grief and hardship. Her work remains rooted in this understanding, and she finds immense fulfilment in helping parents and children build stronger relationships through meaningful therapy.
Lyn, affiliated with GANZ and serving on the Balint board, relocated to Australia in 1999 to undertake her Psychotherapy training, where she became actively engaged with Balint. She acknowledges that her sustained connection with Balint played a significant role in facilitating her return to New Zealand in 2020.
